Leclanché SA is a world leading provider of high-quality energy storage solutions based on lithium-ion cell technology.
With over 100 years of experience and innovation, Leclanché SA Marine Battery Systems incorporate unique technology with the quality assurance by controlling the development, design and manufacturing of the complete battery storage solutions.
Committed to accelerate the transition towards a cleaner energy future for the maritime industry, Leclanché technology is focusing on cells with two different types of electrochemistry:
- Lithium titanium oxide (LTO) for leading performance in long-life and rapid-charge applications
- Graphite-nickel manganese cobalt oxide (G-NMC) for energy intensive applications.
Advantages of Leclanché SA E-Mobility – Marine Battery Systems
- DNV and Lloyd’s Register certification for its innovative battery storage system for 100% electric and hybrid vessels
- High cycle life, design optimized marine battery systems to ensure competitive pricing & reduced lead-times
- EU manufacturing of cells, modules, BMS & packs with automated cell and module production facilities
- Optimum balance between high battery system cycle-life and energy density for improved TCO of vessels
- Partnerships with key industry players in marine and ground transport sectors with qualified pipeline of over 350 MWh
On top of above, the Liquid Cooling technology offers the following benefits:
Lower CAPEX
- Smaller footprint through higher energy density. System has 10% to 40% less volume than air-cooled systems (no need for air channel)
- High cycling application performance: don’t need to pause after each charging / discharging cycle at rates of over 2C
- Can operate in most battery rooms irrespective the rooms temperature
- No need for a larger HVAC system (Heat evacuated through water circuit)
Lower OPEX
- Lower energy consumption / efficiency
- Air cooling fans require more energy than water cooling pumps.
- 700 times better heat transfer with water than air
- Longer lifetime: each cell is cooled evenly, avoiding hot spots
- Very good conditioning time: reduced cold/hot start-up period
- Very little maintenance
Improved Safety
- Cooling plate acting as fire barrier between modules
- Lower risk of bringing room humidity into modules and to create a thermal runaway
- Water cooling allows high IP rating
